Hello to all of you!
we are two trad climbers from Israel looking for some climbing vacation in Norway in August.
I have been over the net for some time now trying to get info on Lofoten.
Needless to say we are looking for the vest crags with a good atmosphere and most important cheap accomodation.

Can someone shed some light on the posibilities around? We are not looking for anything extreme but the higher the better...

Any suggestions will be more then welcome :)))

Hi,
Thanks a lot...
However, before I order the books, I was actuallu trying to ask where is the best area to concentrate if one has only a week or so?
I also realize it may rain 100% of the time so I am a bit reserved and asking if it is a better idea to wait for a longer trip?

With your experience, what would you recomend? If to climb, where is the best rock. We are both in our 7- trad climbing grades. Looking for a cheap, beautiful place to spend some time climbing at...

For a first trip to Norway, I would definitely go to Lofoten. Great rock, a lot of routes, nice scenery and atmosphere. Accomodation is free if you bring your own tent(most climbers do, and there are a lot of climbers there in the summertime). Just check out these guidelines. A car is very useful, but for a week it is possible to do without one if you put up your tent close to Henningsvær(a lot of climbing nearby, including Presten/The Priest). The Rockfax guide has a lot of information. Some info here.

Across the fjord(ferry, car) is Stetind, with the ultraclassic South Pillar. 12 nice, easy pitches. Trip report here,  Rockfax miniguide here.

If it rains and you have a car, you can climb bolted, overhanging routes at Eggum.

If you go there for a week this summer, chances are you will go there for two months next summer:)
